There is good in the world and there is evil in the world, and there is a place beyond good and evil
There once were two stepsisters, both born to a witch mother. Like their mother and her mother before her, these sisters were also witches. The elder sister was born in the dead of night, late in the month of June. For this reason, she was called Veranosol or Sisteresol, and she always wore dark clothes that matched the black night in which she was born. The younger sister was just the opposite. She was called Lunactus as she was born early in the morning as the sun was rising in the third week of December.
These two sisters lived with their mother in a small cottage, but it was not a peaceful home and the countryside around the home felt the disturbances. When there were problems at home, Lunactus would storm off into the countryside and vent her frustration on the local people—she would kill their livestock, poison their water, and set their homes ablaze. For this, the people called her Lunacide or the Evil Sister. Veranosol would shortly follow and correct the wrongs of her sister. The people called her Eusol, and she was celebrated across the land as the Good Witch Sister—eventually, the people began to call her Princess Eusol, and she was continually praised and this went on for many years.
One day, the sisters’ mother became extremely ill. Veranosol, being the favorite daughter, stayed at her mother’s bedside and took care of her. When Lunactus tried to help, Veranosol scolded her for getting in the way and the mother told her to leave the room. Lunactus became very angry and she stormed off to wreak twice as much vengeance on the local people as she normally did. The people suffered horribly and Veranosol never came to correct the wrongs as she was tending to her mother, ignorant of Lunactus’ deeds. The sisters’ mother remained very ill for several years and in that time, Veranosol never left the mother’s side, while Lunactus grew even more jealous and continued to terrorize the countryside. Eventually the people began to curse Veranosol since she had the power to save them but never came, and in their ignorance, they taught their children to curse her as well. They began to call her Veranocide as they called her sister Lunacide.
After many years of illness, the mother died, and Veranosol finally left the cottage in a grave sadness, hoping to find peace in the country. Instead, she found strangers who she had never met or seen and these strangers cursed her and called her by a different name—Veranocide. The people cursed her, threw things at her, and chased her until Veranosol’s sadness turned to a great anger, and she turned on the people and in a great rage destroyed their homes, slaughtered their animals, incinerated their fields, and threatened to kill all of the people’s children. She made it so that the sun never set and it was always day, so that the people could not rest or escape the light of day even in their homes—in this, the people could not grow their crops again and the surviving animals suffered as well.
At this point, Lunactus, who had been away for several years, returned to make amends with her mother and saw that her sister was mistreating the people much as she had done in the past. Lunactus decided to capitalize on this and followed her sister, correcting the wrongs that she had done against the people. Lunactus drove her sister away and the people celebrated her and called her Princess. Veranosol never again returned and the people and their children and grandchildren lived on in blissful ignorance of Lunactus’ past, celebrating their newfound Princess.
